Most notice periods in India run 30 to 90 days, so the smartest switches start long before you resign. Here is the plan our recruiters recommend.
1. Start with a target list (Month 1)
Pick 15–20 companies and three role titles. Check pay ranges on Salary Insights so you know your number before the first call.
2. Refresh your resume and profile
Rewrite your top three bullets with numbers. Use the Resume Builder to create a one-page, ATS-friendly version.
3. Interview while employed (Month 2)
- Schedule interviews early morning or at lunch.
- Prepare four STAR stories you can adapt to any question.
- Practise on Interview Prep before each round.
4. Negotiate the notice period
Ask your new employer if they can buy out part of your notice period, and ask your manager for early release in exchange for a clean handover plan.
5. Resign only with a written offer
Never resign on a verbal offer. Wait for the signed letter with CTC break-up, joining date and location, then resign politely in writing.
